Windiger Farms Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation
REINA – ADOPTED!
Reina is a fantastic, beautiful GSD. I would love to keep her for myself. I can’t, though.
She is a medium to high energy dog. She is sometimes slightly dominating with other dogs, though I’ve noticed that behavior has leveled out as she has decompressed at our farm. She has met 6 of our dogs with only one very minor altercation (a growl and hackles up) with our more dominant female. I think she would do well with almost any dog with a SLOW INTRODUCTION.
Her vet records have her as 1-2 years. She demonstrates a lot of puppy behaviors. She is obsessed with her toys and wants to share them with you. A lot
She alternates between play mode and wanting to chill on the couch. She’s cuddly. She’s a very typical GSD and will be a great guardian dog. She is housetrained. She is current on vaccinations, spayed and microchipped.
I really want this girl to have a good home.

FRANK – Corgi mix
Frank is the absolute most fun and playful Corgi mix. His vet says he is about four years old. I am thinking his other half is Labrador, as he is high energy and loves to bring you toys. is adorably short legs, Frank is a medium size dog at about 40 lbs.
Frank was pulled from an overcrowded shelter in Indiana along with a terrier mix named Possum. Though they have not spent their entire lives together, they are very bonded. I am willing to separate Frank and Possum, but I believe Frank would be sad as an only dog.
Frank is not perfect (are any of us?) and will occasionally tear up toys or shoes if left unattended. I recommend crating him when he is left alone. He pulls a bit on the leash and would benefit from a no pull harness.
I imagine Frank as being a great family dog. I feel so incredibly comfortable with him around my kids. He does not have a mean bone in his body. He is a precious soul that has been treated poorly his entire life, He needs that special someone to give him the forever home he so deserves.
Frank is neutered and current on vaccinations. He did test as low level heartworm positive and is under treatment with the slow kill monthly kill method. His medications will go with him.
Please consider adding Frank to your family.

VIVIA AND HER PUPPIES – German Shepherd possibly mixed puppies – UPDATE AUG 1st – only one male remaining
Vivia was brought to us from Houston, TX as an urgent rescue, She was pregnant, infested with ticks and fleas, and had been shot multiple times with BB guns. Many of the pellets are so deeply embedded that they cannot be safely surgically removed. Vivia was provided emergency care on the way to our sanctuary. By the time she arrived. She was about 55 days pregnant and we knew from the x rays that she had at least nine living pups inside of her.
On May 3rd, 2024, Vivia gave birth to ten beautiful pups. Sadly, one was a runt and did not survive. The other nine (6 boys and 3 girls) are healthy, thriving, socialized, playful and beautiful. While I have no proof of who the father is, I believe him to be the black and silver GSD or possible GSD mix that she was found with in Houston. Only genetic testing can reveal, but they certainly look like GSD pups and are large and vigorous. Even if they are mixed, genetic diversity makes for healthier pups.
The puppies all look quite a bit like mom. Some have a bit of silver coloration mixed in. For the most part, they are largely black and tan and have Vivia’s amazing temperament. I was present for their birth and they have been handled daily ever since. I am following the current recommendation to keep the litter together until they are eight weeks old. Therefore, they will be available around July 3rd, 2024.
These puppies deserve the best homes. They are so fortunate to be alive and I want every single one of them to have a wonderful life. My adoption fee for adults is normally $150, but the puppies will be a bit more at $250 each. They will be microchipped, have their first set of baby vaccines, receive a certificate of health if needed for interstate travel.
Please do not overlook these amazing pups. They will be beyond beautiful and likely a good size, though that is impossible to determine this early on. Vivia will likely remain a permanent resident at WFARR. She loves it here and has been through enough trauma. The first pic is of mom only.

CARMEN – German Shepherd\husky mix
Carmen has been with us for a few months now. She is really confused about why she has not been selected for a forever home. She is, after all, the queen of her castle and loves to drape herself over your lap while you adorn her with attention.
Carmen came from Dallas, Texas. She was another shelter dog that was overlooked and saved from euthanasia by Windiger Farms. She is both beautiful, sweet and smart. I do not understand how dogs like her end up in this situation, but it happens all of the time. Carmen is a lap dog. She wants to be with you always. If you have another dog that needs a playful companion, she is your huckleberry, because she has a lot of energy. It is focused energy, though, She rarely damages anything that she knows isn’t a toy,
This dog deserves a chance,

PHAROAH – GREAT DANE MIX – ADOPTED!!!!!!!!
Hi,my name is Pharoah! I am the most stunning Great Dane mix you’ll ever meet. At about a year old, I weigh roughly 90 lbs. My rescue mom thinks I might be mixed with Collie, but it’s hard to tell without a DNA test. I was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas and transported all the way to my temporary rescue home in Indiana. I would love a place to call my permanent home. I’m goofy, silly, and I try hard to please. I do pull on the leash a bit. My rescue mom complains her back hurts because I’m so strong. She’s working with me on that. Otherwise, I’m sweeter than pie! One look into my mesmerizing amber-colored eyes and you are sure to fall in love.

RAMSES – husky mix
Hi there! /my name is Ramses and I am ready to steal your heart. One look into my sky blue eyes and your heart will surely melt.
My last owner didn’t love me and I ended up at a scary shelter in Texas. My rescue mom swooped in to save me just before something really bad happened.
I don’t know why I was overlooked. I’m polite, reserved, gentle and kind. I’ll babysit your kids and be nice to your other dogs (you need to introduce me slowly. .Some dogs were mean to me in the past and I get nervous.) I am a wonderful size at just under 50 lbs.
I’m neutered, microchipped and ready to crash on your couch and give you lots of love!

ZOE – Cattle Dog Mix
Zoe has only been with us for a few days as of August 1st, so we need a little more time to evaluate her. So far, she appears to be the dream dog. At a perfect 40 lbs, she will keep your lap warm without smothering you. She is extroverted, playful and occasionally develops a mean case of the zoomies!
Like most of our dogs, Zoe came from a high kill shelter in Texas. There is nothing wrong with her. She was just dumped like so many other wonderful dogs in the area. I believe someone once loved her, Her leash manners are impressive and she knows a few tricks. More to come on this diamond in the rough!

POSSUM – Terrier Mix
Possum was brought to us by the same overcrowded shelter that Frank came from. I can not say enough wonderful things about this terrier mix. At about 38 lbs, she is the perfect size dog for a smaller house or condominium. I have tested her repeatedly with my children and other dogs. She does not seem to possess the ability to get mad. She is always happy, cheerful, and wants to be in your lap. While she is heavily bonded with Frank, I know it is not always realistic to attempt to adopt a bonded pair together. I do think she would be happiest with another canine companion.
Possum is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and heartworm negative. She is microchipped. The only things about her that are not absolutely perfect are her tendency to pull on the leash and occasionally get into the garbage. I do recommend crating her if she is left alone for extended periods.
Possum is one of my personal favorites.
